Understanding Maf'ul Liajlih
Maf'ul liajlih is an Isim that is read as a useful text or is mentioned in order to state the cause / motive for an action.
Little explanation, Everything that humans or even animals do, of course, has a reason / because / motivation that drives him to do things / the job.
For example, someone wants to come to the knowledge meeting, then when that person is asked, with questions like ; "What is the reason?, what for?, why?”, Of course that person has a reason, motivation, or the reason that he wants to come to the assembly of knowledge.
As for examples of reasons such as ” I went to the Science Council, because I want to get additional knowledge“. Nah, this is what is meant by maf'ul liajlih. As for other examples below.
Contoh Maf'ul Liajlih
( I hit the kid because I meant to educate him) - أذهَبُ إِلَى الْمَدْرَسَةِ رَغْبَةً فِيْ الْعِلْمِ
( I go to school because I love science) -
(I eat food because I'm hungry) -
(I go home because I miss my family) -
(I sat on the chair because I was tired)
As for the things that cause, reasons or motivations such as 'tired', 'miss', 'hungry', 'love science', and 'educate’ like the example above, namely being maf'ul li ajlih, for the law is nashob and as a sign of nashob itself is fathah.
Another example, The sentence that usually becomes maf'ul li ajlih is as follows: :
إِكْرَامًا (out of respect) | حَسَدًا (because of envy) | فَرْحًا (because happy) |
حيَاءً (because of shame) | حُبًّا (because of love) | تَعْبًا (because I'm tired) |
حُزْنًا (because sad) | بُغْضًا ( because of anger) | شُكْرًا (because thanks) |
رَحْمَةً (because dear) | إِيْمَانًا (because of faith) | غَضْبًا (because of anger) |
خَوْفًا (for fear) | شَفَقَةً (because of pity) | رَغْبَةً (because of love) |
Explanation :
The Law of Maf'ul li Ajlih is actually read Nashob, but can be Jarr with the letter Lam (ل) and there are also times when Maf'ul li Ajlih does not sit as ma'ful liajlih at all, but become Jarr-Majrur and have a relationship(of aluq) with the previous word.
Example:
(I gave food to the poor man out of pity for him)
Try to pay attention to the sentence in the word ‘لِشَفَقَتِهِ‘, which word actually becomes ma'ful liajlih, but here the sentence is read jar because in the word there are old letters ‘لِ‘, starting with lam (letter jar) then the word is related to the previous word, take note : 'I give the poor person food’ this is the first sentence, because the letter jar found in the word is entered ‘لِشَفَقَتِهِ‘ then the jar-majrur has a relationship, which is then translated with the sentence 'because of pity for him'.
Terms or Conditions of Maf'ul Li Ajlih
After we know the meaning and examples of maful min liajlih, The following is important for us to learn, namely regarding the provisions of Maf'ul Li Ajlih, as follows ;
1. Maf'ul Li ajlih must always wear Mashdar
Example ;
- إِكْرَامًا (out of respect)
- حُزْنًا (because sad)
- خَوْفًا (for fear)
- حُبًّا (because of love)
- تَاْدِيْبًا ( educational reasons)
- شَفَقَةً (because of pity)

2. Maf'ul Li Ajlih must consist of deeds / actions related to the heart and named;
Explanation;
The example sentence above is an action that has to do with the heart.
3. To explore Maf'ul Li Ajlih we can use the question word 'why'?’ / 'why?’

words like those above are the answer to the question "why"? / Why?”, or the existence of a cause-and-effect relationship from a job, action or deed.
Another example of maf'ul liajlih that meets these requirements is as follows: :
- قَامَ زَيْدٌ إجْلاَلاً لِعَمْرٍو
“Zaed stands up for glorifying Amr” -
“I visited you because of hope your kindness”
Say ابْتِغَاءَ & إجْلاَلاً is a mashdar (basic word) dari fi'il mudlo'af أَجَلَّ dan fi'il naqish (ابْتَغَى) which both of these are forms of the work of the heart, along with the presence of the perpetrator and also the time of the work قَامَ and قَصَدَ as well as an explanation of the reasons قَامَ Zaed dan .'s قَصَدْتُ. So thus, mashdar / the basic words must be given 'rob nashab as maf'ul li ajlih/maf'ul min ajlih/maf'ul lahu.
